As the new Government has set out its plans for reforming health and care has vowed that the NHS should be available and free for all stating that currently it's clearly broken. It says it will create an NHS that is also neighborhood-based, shifting resources to community and primary care, for social care a National Care service will be established, underpinned by National standards. That’s three silos and a step back from the integrated care model we are currently still working towards.
It's time to get back to basics. Enabling both health and care with the same language but different applications shifts the focus from reactive rescuing to proactive planning resulting in timely decision-making.
The National Early Warning Score (NEWS2) is the only validated track and trigger system in use across the NHS, Mental Health, Community, and Ambulance services resulting in a common language recognised by workers wherever they are in the system.
Enabling residential and domiciliary services to tap into this provides them not only with confidence but also provides clarity and validation.
Used proactively brings a new element and the ability to make early decisions, initiate treatment, and most importantly choice! Allowing people to access the right care at the right time by the right team with the right skills in their own home.
