These Hands Academy Launches Dual AI Innovation Projects to Tackle Health Inequalities and Support Care Homes

These Hands Academy, a leader in workforce development and digital transformation in health and social care, has launched two pioneering innovation projects designed to advance health equity and improve resident wellbeing in care homes using artificial intelligence.

The first initiative, Advancing Equity in Health Through AI-Driven Collaborative Networks, is supported by the Leicester Institute for Advanced Studies and funded by the Universities Partnership. The project brings together expert researchers from De Montfort University, the University of Leicester, and Loughborough University to explore how data-driven collaboration can address systemic health disparities.

“We are committed to making equity in health more than a buzzword,” said Tara Marshall, Director at These Hands Academy. “This project brings academic rigour and community engagement together to ensure the design of truly inclusive, actionable solutions.”

The second initiative, A Pilot Study on Time-Series Analysis of Health Deterioration in Care Homes Using Bayesian Predictive Modelling, is jointly funded by the UK Knowledge Exchange Hub for Mathematical Sciences and These Hands Academy Ltd. Focused on care homes in Rutland and Leicester, this study applies advanced AI modelling to detect early signs of health decline in residents, aiming to support proactive interventions and reduce avoidable hospital admissions.

“These projects are deeply aligned with our mission and the Connected Care Programme: empowering carers and communities to lead improvement from within,” added Tara “We're not just implementing tech, we're creating the conditions to design one system for the system.”
